Timothy is a dual Irish–South African citizen with a deep-rooted passion for music education. He holds both bachelor’s and postgraduate degrees in music performance, alongside a PGCE in education. Additionally, he completed a Master’s degree in Music Therapy, which has further enriched his understanding of music’s profound impact on holistic development.
Since qualifying to teach in 2013, Timothy has gained extensive experience in both national and international curricula, holding teaching certifications in the UK and South Africa, as well as certifications to teach AP Music Theory, A Level Music, and IBDP Music. As a multi-instrumentalist, he teaches and performs piano, voice, flute, clarinet, saxophone, recorder, guitar, ukulele, and drumkit, and greatly enjoys conducting choirs, musicals, and orchestras. Having worked for Nord Anglia Education since 2020, Timothy joins BSB not only as the new Director of Performing Arts but also as the China Regional Lead for the Juilliard–NAE collaboration and the Performing Arts Regional Lead for China.
His teaching philosophy centres on cultivating a lifelong love for music within every student while fostering creativity, discipline, and confidence. He believes that music education is not only about artistic excellence but also about nurturing transferable skills essential for holistic development. He is committed to inspiring students to find their place in the spotlight through the uniquely designed Juilliard music programmes.
