A Global Journey in Education
Originally from Canada, Mr McLoughlin began his career more than 25 years ago as an English teacher. His path has taken him across Japan, Australia, the UK, the UAE, and Switzerland. At LCIS, he first joined as Deputy Head of Secondary in 2018 before becoming Head of Secondary. This international perspective, paired with deep knowledge of LCIS, now guides his leadership.
What Makes LCIS Special
For Mr McLoughlin, LCIS is more than a school—it’s a community. “LCIS doesn’t just value academic excellence, but genuinely integrates wellbeing, creativity, and global connectedness into every student’s journey,” he explains.
This approach pays off in results: over the past five years, our students have achieved an average of 35 points in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), consistently well above the global average.
Vision for the Future
Mr McLoughlin’s first priority as Principal is to listen—to students, staff, and families. “My vision is for LCIS to be a place where excellence and wellbeing go hand in hand,” he shares. He wants every child to feel known, challenged, and supported, in a school where learning is both inspiring and forward-looking.
Preparing Students for Tomorrow
In a fast-changing world, he believes education must go beyond academics. LCIS focuses on adaptability, creativity, and resilience, alongside critical thinking and emotional intelligence. “Education can’t predict the future, but it can prepare young people to shape it,” he reminds us.
Why Families Choose LCIS
Swiss and international families alike value LCIS’s balance of high academic standards, personal wellbeing, and community spirit. Parents appreciate our personalised approach, strong pastoral care, and close partnership between school and families.
Looking Ahead
As LCIS opens this new chapter, our Principal’s words capture the school’s spirit best: a balance of excellence and wellbeing, tradition and innovation, challenge and support. His vision is clear—to ensure LCIS remains a place where every child can flourish.
